There are some very real differences between what you learn through Lal Kitab and traditional Vedic Astrology. One example is the ascendant.
In LalKitab belief the ascendant is always Aries with the second house sign being Taurus and so forth. In traditional Vedic astrology you have to determine the ascendant by calculating the rising Zodiac sign on the eastern horizon when the person is born into the world.
The movement of the planets are not taken into account in LalKitab. It also has a special table that is used to make annual predictions based on planetary movement.

LalKitab distinguishes planets according to them being benefic or malefic, but they do not give separate planetary names depending on their placement.
