Your Life Path Number in Vedic Numerology

Life path is the major lesson to be learned through numerology. It is the central focus of a person’s life.

It is the one number that is associated with us throughout our lifetime, one of the most important to us. Our life path number or spiritual number and is contained in the birth date. We can never change the life path number to suit ourselves as we can change our personality, vocational, or destiny numbers since life path is derived from the numbers of the day, month, and year when we were born.

The number indicates the basic traits of personality with which we are endowed at birth- in other words; it gives us a clue to our worst faults and our redeeming virtues.

Numerology deals with an individual’s general aspects, such as behavior or character. The main numbers used in the numerology chart are either derived from the name or date of birth, with the date of birth being the most important number. This number is also called the life path number.

This is your unique path in life, indicating what opportunities will come your way and where your main talents and abilities lie.

As your life path is determined from your birth date, it is unchangeable; as such, it governs your destiny forever.

Your life path numerology is your central focus and what you have come into this life to learn. At this stage, if you are not aware of your purpose in life, such knowledge could have a tremendous impact and make your future much easier.

How is Your Life Path Number Calculated?

Your numerology life path number is calculated by adding your meaningful numbers and reducing the result to a single digit. Your life path number is the sum of the month, the day, and the year of your birth. For example, if your date of birth is 15 December 1971:

December is the 12th month of the year: 12=>1+2=>3

Turn the 15th day into a single digit: 15=>1+5=>6

Turn the year 1971 into a single digit: 1+9+7+1=>18=>1+8=>9

Add these three single digits together: 3+6+9=18

Reduce this number to a single digit: 18=>1+8=>9

Thus, your life path number is 9

It is important to note that 11 and 22 are considered master numbers; do not reduce them to a single digit. For example, if someone’s date of birth is 29 July 1966, his life path number would be:

July is the 7th month of the year: 7

29=>2+9=>11

1966=>1+9+6+6=>22.

The life path number is: 7+11+22=>40=>4+0=>4

The same life path number does not bring the same experience to all.

The differences stem from the month, day, or year of birth. For example, if your life path number is 9 because you were born on 15 December 1971, then in addition to the life path number, you will also be influenced by 3 (month number), 6 (day number), and 9 (year number).

Meanwhile, your friend, who was born on 17 September 1972, will have the same life path number 9 and will be influenced by 9 (month number),8 (day number), and 1(year number).

Up to 28 years of age, your life resonates with the energy of your birth month. From 28 to 56 years of age, it resonates with the energy of your birth date. After 56 years of age, you learn the lessons that resonate with the energy of your birth year.

Finally, a note about master numbers:

Master numbers are extremely challenging numbers and highly paradoxical. They connote great potential yet also represent significant inner tension.
